September 16, 2026 – Stone Ridge, NY– SUNY Ulster will welcome the Mobile Museum of Tolerance to campus on Monday, September 28, offering an engaging educational experience focused on diversity, inclusion, human rights, and the importance of standing against prejudice and discrimination.
The Mobile Museum of Tolerance will be set up in parking lot F, near Hardenbergh Hall. It will be open to the SUNY Ulster campus community from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on September 28. The museum will then be open to the general public from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
“The Mobile Museum of Tolerance offers our campus and broader community a powerful opportunity to engage with history in a way that encourages reflection, dialogue, and action. As an institution of higher education, we have a responsibility not only to educate, but also to create spaces where people can examine difficult histories, challenge bias and intolerance, and deepen their understanding of one another,” states Candice Van Dyke, Chief Diversity Officer at SUNY Ulster. “Bringing this experience to SUNY Ulster reinforces our commitment to creating a campus culture grounded in belonging, respect, and our shared humanity. We are excited to welcome the Mobile Museum of Tolerance and invite our students, employees, and community members to experience this important and timely program.”
The Mobile Museum of Tolerance is a custom-designed 32-seat wheelchair accessible bus created by the Simon Wiesenthal Center to travel coast-to-coast as a self-contained high-tech mobile classroom featuring interactive screens, digital media, and guided workshops by licensed educators.
The event is part of SUNY Ulster’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for learning, dialogue, and community engagement around issues that affect us all.
