Full Scholarships Available to Become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant

SUNY Ulster Press Release

The SUNY Ulster Program Runs from January 8 through May 16, 2024

November 29, 2023 – Kingston, NY – SUNY Ulster has full scholarships available for its Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Program that runs from January 8 through May 16, 2024. The classes meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Kingston Center of SUNY Ulster, 94 Mary’s Avenue, Kingston. The program also requires one and a half hours of online learning.

Certified clinical medical assistants are in high demand in the Hudson Valley region and are one of the nation’s fastest-growing careers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. They perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep hospitals, offices, and clinics of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists running smoothly.

CCMAs have both administrative and clinical duties. Administrative duties include: answering the telephone, greeting patients, filling out medical records and updating them as needed, scheduling appointments, and handling correspondence and billing. On the clinical side, medical assistants often take medical histories, prepare patients for examination, assist the doctor during appointments, and perform basic laboratory tests, along with other clinical responsibilities.

This course prepares students to sit for the National NHA CCMA Credential.

The available scholarships include tuition, a study guide, online test preparation materials, CPR/BLS certification, and the NHA CCMA certification exam. To learn more and apply for admission to the program and the scholarship, call (845) 802-7174 or email at cereg@sunyulster.edu.
