SUNY Ulster Students Inducted into The Alpha Rho Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for Community College

 December 17, 2024 – Stone Ridge – The Alpha Rho Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa hosted its 2024 Induction Ceremony in the College Lounge at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024. SUNY Ulster’s Alpha Rho Delta Chapter is the International honor society for community college students. Membership is lifelong and offers numerous benefits including scholarships, letters of recommendation, and recognition of academic prestige. SUNY Ulster Launches New Microcredential in Digital Storytelling

Students Learn How to Produce and Distribute Journalistic Content
in Innovative Digital Formats

December 3, 2024 – Stone Ridge, NY – Registration is open for Spring and Fall 2025 for Digital Storytelling, a new four-course microcredential preparing students for careers in a media-focused world. This microcredential is ideal for students interested in adding media skills to their chosen major or working adults looking to earn more in their current or future employment.

Courses that begin on January 27 include COM 127: Video Content Creation and COM 131: Digital Storytelling. Courses offered in Fall 2025 include COM 124: Media & Society and COM 210: Journalism-Podcasts, Blogs, & Newsletters.

SUNY Ulster’s new Digital Media Lab is equipped with professional cameras, lighting setups, backdrops, and audio recording equipment with which to create and explore using industry-standard software Adobe Creative Cloud and Final Cut Pro.

Upon completion, students are awarded a digital badge that can be added to their resume and LinkedIn profile to pursue employment in Content Creation, Marketing & Social Media Management, Digital Engagement, Production, Broadcast Media, Community Organizing/Politics, Technical Writing, Social Media, Editing, and Producing.

SUNY Ulster Continuing and Professional Education Hosts Information Sessions and Open House with Release of Spring 2025 Brochure

December 2, 2024 – Kingston, NY – SUNY Ulster recently released the Spring 2025 brochure highlighting both credit and non-credit courses offered starting as early as January 2025. To give the community a chance to find out more about these programs, information sessions will be held on December 12, 2024, from 4-6:30 p.m. Instructors, program coordinators, and enrollment specialists will be on hand to distribute more details on courses as well as discuss scholarships and register students. Attendees will have a chance to listen to live holiday music, enjoy light refreshments, and enter into a drawing for SUNY Ulster swag. Alumni are encouraged to attend and share their success stories.

SUNY Ulster is making a shift to more evening classes in Kingston to address the growing adult population that is returning to school to finish a degree. Programs featured include manufacturing, CNC, business, CASAC, clinical medical, teaching assistant, starting a childcare business, and more. Many of these courses stack into a microcredential which can be completed in a semester or two. Those completing the microcredential are awarded a digital badge to recognize their achievement.

Spring classes start the week of January 20, 2025, and registration is currently in progress. You do not need to register to attend the open house, but we encourage attendees to sign up for an info session.

Specific classes being offered in Kingston include Certified Clinical Medical, Metrology, CNC Programming, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Reiki, Basic ASL for Healthcare, Business Communications, Medical Terminology, Principles of Management, Computer Applications in Business, Leadership, DEISJ in the Workplace, Spreadsheets for Business, English Composition, Algebra, and Fundamental Concepts of Electricity.
