Year-to-Career Programs for Busy Adults

July 22, 2024 – Kingston, NY – SUNY Ulster is holding an Open House on Monday, August 12 at the Kingston Center, 94 Mary’s Avenue, from 4-6:30 p.m. It will highlight many of the career programs and courses offered this fall that are in high demand in the Hudson Valley region. Tuition for many of these programs are covered by scholarships and grants. Ahead of the Open House, join us at an information session at the Kingston Center on Wednesday, August 7 at 5:30 p.m. to learn more about the Year to Career course training programs and scholarships.

Career and upskilling programs covered include microcredentials to help employees remain competitive as well as pre-apprentice programs for those looking to start a career in:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • AI
  • CASAC
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
  • Data Analytics
  • GED
  • New Start Program
  • Starting a Family Child Care Business

There will be light refreshments and Admissions counselors will be available to answer questions and help those who want to apply and register.

SUNY Ulster Holds Fall 2024 Campus Connect Orientation Dates this August in Stone Ridge and Kingston for Incoming Students

July 16, 2024  Stone Ridge, NY – SUNY Ulster will hold four sections of Campus Connect Orientation for the fall 2024 semester. The dates held on the Stone Ridge Campus are Friday, August 2 at 9:00 a.m., Monday, August 5 at 1:00 p.m., or Tuesday, August 6 at 1:00 p.m., or at the Kingston Center on Mary’s Avenue on Wednesday, August 7 at 5:00 p.m. for all incoming students.

Campus Connect is an invaluable experience and provides students with the opportunity to become familiar with the college and all SUNY Ulster has to offer.  Join our morning, afternoon, or evening session of our Campus Connect Orientation and meet SUNY Ulster’s President, Alison Buckley, Ed.D., and our Campus Connect Student Leaders. Enjoy a mini tour of the campus and learn some valuable information as you make connections with faculty, staff, and fellow students. This three-hour orientation is a great start to your fall semester. Fall classes begin Monday, August 26, 2024.

SUNY Ulster’s Fall 2024 Year to Career Brochure Available Now

July 10, 2024 – Kingston, NY – SUNY Ulster’s Fall 2024 Year to Career Workforce training brochure is now available online and at locations around the county. The brochure highlights a variety of in-demand training programs that can be completed in a year or less. The brochure includes information on how coursework can be stacked into degree programs and highlights a variety of scholarships to assist students in reaching their educational goals including those students that started a degree and never finished offering them a second chance to complete a degree.  Funding is also available for those that never attended college and are now seeking to upskill to a locally in-demand job.

Starting August 2024 are five new pre-apprentice programs, each training for an in-demand career in Ulster County. These pre-apprenticeship community-based trainings are being offered to build the breadth of NYS DOL registered apprentices in the region. Pre-apprentice programs available are Teaching Assistant, Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, Math for STEM fields, Data Analytics, and Building Science. Tuition for these programs are covered by a grant. After successful completion of the coursework, students will be issued a digital badge from SUNY which validates the skills learned. In addition, students will be eligible for a $500 stipend. To apply for pre-apprentice funding please complete an application.

For Ulster County residents that live under the federal poverty level, please contact us for an application to apply to the New Start program which provides full financial coverage of tuition and fees as well as childcare and transportation costs. Pathways funding is available for students that wish to complete a microcredential.  Microcredentials are focused certification of skills. Most microcredentials can be completed in a year or less. Programs available under this funding include Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Accounting Computer Skills, Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship, CNC Pre-Apprenticeship, Cut and Sew, and Small Business Management. To apply for funding please complete an application.

Program Coordinators are available to speak to students regarding educational pathways that lead to the desired career.  They are also available to assist students with resumes and mock interviews. SUNY Ulster’s Kingston Center located at 94 Mary’s Avenue is open many Monday evenings this summer to accommodate the working student.  Registration for workforce programs and non-matriculated students can be completed immediately.  Students that wish to declare a major and matriculate into SUNY Ulster can start their paperwork at their appointment.  For students wishing to matriculate, please bring a sealed high school transcript.
