Join Us at FAFSA & TAP Completion Day on August 11 to Receive Hands-On Help Submitting for Financial Aid
August 6, 2026 – Stone Ridge, NY – Too many people think college is financially out of reach for them, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you’d like to transfer to earn a Bachelor degree or want an Associate degree that puts you into an in-demand career, SUNY Ulster provides prospective students with the hands-on support needed to get the most out of financial support that does not need to be paid back.
As part of this effort, SUNY Ulster is hosting a Financial Aid Workshop on Tuesday, August 11 from 2 – 3:30 p.m. on the Stone Ridge campus. Financial aid experts will be available to help students and parents submit the forms that are the foundation of federal and state grants. In addition, the FAFSA opens eligibility to SUNY Ulster’s scholarships and other support programs such as the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). EOP helps students with demonstrated financial need succeed in college by providing comprehensive academic, financial, and personal support. Sonia Irizarry, 31, is proving it is never too late to go to college. A first-generation student and mother of five, Irizarry is majoring in human services at SUNY Ulster with plans to become a licensed social worker and help others do their best in life.
“SUNY Ulster provides a big support system,” Irizarry said. “They helped me through the financial aid process, and I don’t expect to have any debt when I graduate. EOP provides vocational opportunities that set me up with work-study, and they have tutoring as well. They support you throughout the journey.”
