Join us at SUNY Ulster for a Visiting Artist Exhibition, “The View From My Window,” showcasing the illustrations of celebrated local artist James E. Ransome. The exhibition will be on display at the Muroff-Kotler Gallery (Vanderlyn Hall 265) on SUNY Ulster’s Stone Ridge Campus from Friday, February 23rd until Friday, March 8th.
James E. Ransome’s journey in art began in the rural South, devoid of direct exposure to art galleries or museums, yet fueled by a deep-seated passion for storytelling and illustration. With accolades such as the Coretta Scott King Award for Illustration and the IBBY Honor Award, Ransome’s career is a testament to the power of perseverance and talent. His work has taken on many forms, from books and posters to paintings and murals.
The exhibition kicks off with an opening reception on Friday, February 23, from 4 to 6 p.m., offering a chance to view Ransome’s work up close while engaging with fellow art lovers.
